The Passu Glacier Trek is one of the most accessible yet visually striking adventures in the Karakoram region. Located in upper Hunza (Gojal), this trek offers dramatic alpine scenery without the technical challenges of high-altitude climbs.
Starting from the charming village of Passu, you’ll hike through scenic trails with views of the legendary Passu Cones, traverse moraines, and get up-close with the glacier’s jagged ice formations. The trek is moderate in difficulty, making it ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and trekkers with decent fitness levels.
The journey also immerses you in the local Wakhi culture—staying in home-stays or local lodges, sharing traditional meals, and exploring historic villages like Gulmit. You’ll also cross the famous Hussaini Suspension Bridge, known for its thrilling sway and narrow planks over the Hunza River.
This trek is a perfect short adventure for those wanting to experience the magic of the Karakoram without venturing into extreme altitudes.

Day 01: Arrival in Islamabad
- Arrive at Islamabad International Airport.
- Meet & greet by tour representative. Hotel transfer.
- Depending on arrival time: city tour (Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh, Lok Virsa).
- Overnight stay: Hotel in Islamabad.
Day 02: Fly or Drive to Gilgit / Hunza – Transfer to Passu
- Option 1: Domestic flight to Gilgit (1 hr) – weather dependent.
- Option 2: Drive via Karakoram Highway (approx. 13–14 hrs) with scenic breaks.
- Upon arrival in Hunza, transfer to Passu village.
- Relax and acclimatize with views of Passu Cones.
- Overnight stay: Guesthouse in Passu.
Day 03: Trek to Passu Glacier Viewpoint
- Begin trek from Passu village after breakfast.
- Gradual ascent through rocky terrain to Passu Glacier viewpoint (3–4 hrs round trip).
- Enjoy breathtaking views of the glacier, Passu Cones, and nearby peaks.
- Return to guesthouse by afternoon.
- Overnight stay: Guesthouse in Passu
Day 04: Trek to Borith Lake via Ghulkin Glacier
- After breakfast, start the trek to Borith Lake (~3–4 hrs).
- Cross Ghulkin Glacier (rocky and icy trail – local guide required).
- Reach Borith Lake – peaceful, scenic lake ideal for rest and lunch.
- Optional walk around the lake or birdwatching (especially in spring/autumn).
- Return to Passu by evening (via jeep or return hike).
- Overnight stay: Guesthouse in Passu or Borith Lake eco-lodge.
Day 05: Hussaini Bridge & Cultural Tour of Gulmit
Visit the Hussaini Suspension Bridge – one of the most thrilling rope bridges in the world.
- Continue to Gulmit village:
- Visit Old House Museum & Wakhi cultural center.
- Optional short hike to Ondra Fort viewpoint.
- Enjoy a traditional Wakhi meal with a local family (optional).
- Return to Passu or drive to Karimabad (optional).
- Overnight stay: Guesthouse in Passu or Karimabad.
Day 6: Return to Gilgit – Fly or Drive to Islamabad
- Drive back to Karimabad from Passu
Free time for shopping, photography, and exploring cafés
- Optional hike to Eagle’s Nest viewpoint
- Overnight: Hotel in Karimabad
Day 7: Departure from Islamabad
