Tour overview
Journey to the frozen white heart of the Nagar Valley — a winter trek to the Hopper Glacier that brings together glacial views, highland villages, and cultural warmth.
Overview:
Hopper Glacier is one of the most accessible and breathtaking glaciers in northern Pakistan. Situated in Nagar Valley, just across the Hunza River, it is a fusion of several ice tongues including Barpu and Bualtar. In winter, the landscape freezes, turning the ice flows into sculptural terrain beneath snow-draped peaks.
❄️ Terrain & Trail
The trail begins in Hopper village, a traditional highland community surrounded by walnut and apricot trees. As the trek progresses, the route winds through rocky ridgelines and frozen streams, offering uninterrupted views of Ultar Sar, Ladyfinger Peak, and Golden Peak. Expect 2–4 hours of moderate trekking in snow, with patches of open glacier crossing.
🏡 Local Life & Experience
You’ll stay with locals in heated rooms or guesthouses, dine on traditional Hopper cuisine, and interact with families keeping ancient Burusho and Wakhi traditions alive. Storytelling nights and bonfires can be arranged depending on the group’s interest.
🧗 Difficulty Level
Moderate. Suitable for active trekkers with basic snow hiking ability. Trekking poles and snow boots required.
