Tirich Mir, towering over Chitral, is a legendary peak rarely approached in winter. This trek takes you to the lower base area or viewpoint, following a narrow trail through Zani Pass, Shagrom village, and up into the Tirich Valley, with views of the snow-covered pyramid-like massif in all its glory.

❄️ High-Altitude, Low-Crowd Trek

This is not a technical climb but still physically demanding due to the snow, thin air, and remote setting. It is ideal for seasoned hikers and photographers interested in raw wilderness.

🏕️ True Off-the-Grid Experience

Expect basic guesthouses or tent camping, thermal sleeping bags, and zero phone signal. You’ll be moving among Wakhi and Chitrali herders, and may share stories with local climbers and yak farmers.

Day 1: Chitral to Zani Pass and trek to Shagrom

- Scenic jeep drive from Chitral to Zani Pass

- Start trek from Zani Pass to Shagrom Village, gateway to Tirich Valley

- Walk through pine forests and snow-draped ridges

- Overnight in local guesthouse or camp in Shagrom

Day 2: Trek to Tirich Valley Base Area

- Begin gradual ascent into the heart of Tirich Valley

- Cross frozen streams, alpine meadows, and snowy paths

- Arrive at base area or viewpoint camp

- Overnight in tent or shepherd’s hut (weather permitting)

Day 3: Exploration Day

- Easy hike to panoramic viewpoints of Tirich Mir (7,708 m) – highest peak in Hindu Kush

- Explore ice formations, frozen waterfalls, and deep snow zones

- Optional snowshoe walk or winter photography

- Return to same camp/hut for overnight

Day 4: Trek Back to Shagrom

- Retrace steps along the frozen trail

- Descend back to Shagrom Village

- Enjoy warm local hospitality

- Overnight in village or return to road head depending on pace

Day 5: Return to Chitral

- Jeep ride back from Zani Pass to Chitral town

- End of trek and transfer to hotel or onward destination
